December 2021

05 December 2021

Well I have managed to get this months page started before the month is halfway through this time, but the news is that we are still working the harvest, and what a week it has been. The slow start to the harvest is well and truly over, the site is a good 75% full and the we have taken in over 4,000 tonnes each day for the past 5 days! It has been one heck of a week.

Thankfully the weather has been rather good and the strong Easterly winds have kept the temperature down, but not for long. Either way, things are ticking along nicely and the record harvest across Western Australia continues. More later.

Well it's been a busy time recently and this week we cracked the 100,000 tonnes received, handled and stored, and we are almost full. Estimates are around 15,000 tonnes of space left with the farmers starting to worry about how they are going to get it all in here, or at least when we will run out of space and they have to go elsewhere.

Having completed a Bobcat and Front End Loader course has meant I have also been outloading some tonnage from the A Type storage shed so create space. A narrow doorway and having to reverse back out with 4 tonnes in the bucket to drop it in the grid has been interesting and thankfully I am now competent and quick enough to keep the system full and the trucks moving.

So with the Christmas break almost upon us we will have three days off and will then be back here to finish in loading the farmers grain, and to then start outloading 20,000 tonnes of malt barley. This should see work continue until mid to late January, and then we will definitely need a rest.

As for next year, it will all depend on COVID and Border Closures.

31 December 2021

The final day of the year and an early knock off.We are almost full, and there's enough room for about 500 more tonnes and then that is it! Of course we will begin outloading the Malt Barley next week as the in loading winds down so there is sill a few week work left. So as 2021 ends we have over 123,000 tonnes in the bin and some $ in our pockets. Not a bad way to end the year. Not bad at all.

Almost Full

With just this space to fill in, we are almost full.

Years End

With just the bit to fill in in the middle we are almost totally full with 123,000 tonnes on the bin.

Mark Twain once said "...years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do that by the things you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." - and so we will.
